What is the name of Paulette's dog?

Check back tomorrow for another chance in winning a pair of tickets to a hilarious musical :)

Draw for 3 pairs of tickets to Legally Blonde at the NAC

As you may know I am the social media reporter for Broadway Accross Canada's Ottawa chapter. I talk about the different shows I see in Ottawa as well as other cities and promote the shows when they come to Ottawa.

What is coming up at Ottawa National Arts Centre??? The broadway version of Legally Blonde :) Trust me this is a must see (I saw it in Toronto this summer).

This being said Broadway Accross Canada is happily giving me 3 pairs of tickets to the premiere show of Legally Blonde on December 28th. What do you have to do???

This will be a trivia contest; how well do you know the storyline, the cast, etc. The contest will begin this Wednesday (December 8th) and will end Wednesday (December 15th). Each correct answer gives you a ballot in the draw.

What do you have to do to participate?? You can answer the daily trivia on my facebook status or comment on my blogposts (www.bgenier.blogspot.com).

Please let me know if you have any questions and of course good luck!

Burlesque!!! A definite must see!!!!

Following a long day at work Melanie and I decided to go see Burlesque, Christina Aguilera's first acting job.  I must admit I am not sure what I was expecting probably a flop similar to Britney Spears' Crossroads movie.

Oh was I surprised when I had to restrain myself from clapping after the musical numbers. This movie is classified as a musical but it is so much more. . . it is an experience!  I am not a fan of Cher but I enjoyed her two numbers.

All in all this is a DEFINITE must see in theatres!  I didn't want it to end!  Now I have to wait 2-3 months before the DVD release . . .  :(

Have you seen Burlesque?? Did you enjoy it??

A Fiddler on the Roof in Ottawa??!!

Hi all!

Last night was the opening night for the broadway show Fiddler on the Roof here in Ottawa. If you have read my previous post you know that this play is what started it all for me sixteen years ago.  Well if I am being honest I didn't really remember the story . . . I knew that it had something to do with marrying off the daughters but that was about it. . . I was twelve :)

This is definitely a must see!  I understand why it continues to be a success. The lead in the play Tevye is hilarious!!! The comments and sounds made to show . . . well I won't tell you, you have to see it.  I will tell you this you will laugh!!!  For the Ottawa performance Tevye was played by John Preece . . . one word AMAZING.  The timing for the jokes was perfect (even though they weren't really jokes . . .), the dancing showed the traditions and history but was funny at the same time.

I will admit that I was extremely tired and the play did run long, starting at 8pm and ending at 11pm with a 20 minute intermission but it was well worth it.  If I absolutely had to say one critic there was one thing that was slightly annoying, the lighting.  Whenever there was a spot on one of the actors (who were standing still) it kept on moving.  But that is if I had to say something critical :)

Honestly, I can understand why I this play started my passion for the theatre, it makes you go through all these different emotions in a few hours.  It truly is entertainning! and a timeless classic of American/Canadian Musical Theatre.

Have you seen Fiddler on the Roof? If so what did you think about it?

Lion King Preview Event

Last night was the VIP event for the Broadway Accross Canada's upcoming presentation of The Lion King.  First a cocktail hour with good hors d'oeuvres and open bar followed by a presentation of how the broadway version of the Lion King came about . . .  believe it or not it was Micheal Eisner (the then Disney President) that came up with the idea and his team did not initially believe it to be plausible. Next we learned about how the costumes came about.  It is quite impressive!

A great surprise after the presentation . . . a goody bag that contain not only a cd, the playbook but also a teddy bear of one of the characters (I got Pumba hehehehe).  On the drive home we sang to The Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata (from the soundtrack found in the goody bag).

I am truly looking forward to seeing The Lion King when it comes to Ottawa for its 4 week show period in July 2011. Group tickets are currently available (groups of 15 or more) otherwise the individual tickets will only be available in April 2011. Mark the date in your calendars!  This is a must see!!

I know this is a bad picture . . .  I took it from my seat.  You can see the screen as well as two of the four masks/puppets that were on display (they were from the actual play).

Tarte Holiday Collection 2010 vs Femme Fatale Palette

I have always been a fan of TARTE cosmetics however I can never take advantage of the many sales they have on their website since they only ship to the states.  I have discovered that they sell their products on http://www.qvc.com/ and they ship to Canada.  They also have amazing deals . . . sometimes even better than their website.

Today I watched a youtube video from TARTE about eyeshadow palettets.  She mentionned that there is a special palette coming out for the 2010 holiday. This palette would include bronzers and lipgloss (not a fan of lipglosses in palette form).

Today I decided to try my sample size eyeshadows and I LOVE them!!!  Now I can't decide if I want to purchase the Femme Fatale Palette (which is light colour based) or should I wait for the holiday palette.  Oh what a dilemma . . . any suggestions :)

Fiddler on the Roof coming to Ottawa!!

Fiddler on the Roof is coming to Ottawa in November and I am truly looking forward to seeing it!  Sixteen years ago my parents brought me to the Ottawa National Arts Centre for the first time.  What did we see?!  Fiddler on the Roof of course!  Honestly I don't remember the story line but what I do remember is how captivated I was by the singing and dancing.

I was speechless!! I couldn't stop talking about it afterwards.  This started a passion that is still going strong.  I have seen many plays that I have loved but I will never forget the play that started it all :)

What play have you seen that made its mark on your life?

Why did I choose to start a blog ?

I decided to start a blog after discovering youtube and the many beauty gurus.  Many of the beauty gurus (BelledujourNYC and Lollypop26) also have blogs.  Now I am not claiming to be a beauty guru but I have and will be doing many beauty purchases and this is a perfect venu for reviews.

Beauty is not my only love I also have a passion for broadway plays.  Unfortunately living in Ottawa means I don't go to broadway plays often. Thank god for Broadway Accross Canada which brings broadway plays to major cities in Canada. (http://www.broadwayacrossamerica.com/indexCanada.html?c=52851172)

Well that pretty covers my two loves!  and also where most of my money goes :) My goal is to post a blog per week and as my blog grows posting updates more frequently. . . I also tempted to start doing youtube videos again. . .
